Customer retention for dry cleaners
An optional service that uses your own sales data to find valuable customers who have stopped coming, follow first visits, and measure who actually returns.
Customers rarely tell you they've left
Nobody cancels a dry cleaner. A good customer simply stops showing up, and the store has no moment when it notices. Maybe they moved, changed jobs or started working from home. Maybe a shirt came back wrong. By the time anyone looks, months have passed and the habit has gone elsewhere.
The first visit is the other quiet leak. Advertising pays to bring someone through the door once, and the second visit is what makes that money worthwhile. Most stores can't easily say how many first-time customers came back, let alone do anything about the ones who didn't.
A list only helps if it's short enough to act on. A few hundred names sorted by what they used to spend is a plan. Thousands of names in a spreadsheet is a chore nobody finishes.

How we measure
Some customers come back on their own, so raw return counts tend to flatter any program. Whenever there are enough customers to do it fairly, we set aside a comparison group and report the difference between the two. When there aren't, we say that the result can't separate what we did from what would have happened anyway.
Returns are counted from actual sales records, never from estimates, and that is how they appear in the report.
What we don't do
- We don't promise a return rate.
- We don't use customer contact data without their consent and a signed data agreement.
- We don't count someone as won back unless the sales data shows it.
